KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team is the No. 11 seed in the 32nd annual NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships hosted at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.
The Blue Raiders (15-3) open the 24-team field at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday, May 15 against Spring Hill (Ala.) College. The Lindsey Wilson and Spring Hill winner advances to Wednesday's second round against sixth-seeded Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University.
Lindsey Wilson is making its eighth national championship appearance and boasts an 11-7 overall record in the tournament. All eight appearances have been consecutive dating back to the 2005 tournament. The Blue Raiders reached four straight national semifinals (2006-09) in their tournament history.
The Blue Raiders enter the national tournament riding a five-match winning streak. Lindsey Wilson has won 14 of its last 15 with its only loss to top-ranked Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) on April 3.
Spring Hill is making its second appearance all-time at nationals. The Badgers (9-4) own a 0-1 all-time record in the tournament. Spring Hill's only appearance was an opening round loss in 2004.
Lindsey Wilson is one of 13 teams to earn an automatic berth by winning their respective conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournaments or regular season conference title. Spring Hill earned its berth as the host institution.
The single-elimination, head-to-head tournament begins on Tuesday with eight first-round matchups. The top-eight seeds received first-round byes and will begin action on Wednesday, May 16. The finals are slated for 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, May 19.
