COLUMBIA, Ky. -- With just two games left in the 2011-12 regular season, the Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's basketball teams host an important doubleheader with Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville (Ky.) University tonight at Biggers Sports Center.
Tip-off for the women's game is 6 p.m. CT with the men's game to follow at approximately 8 p.m. CT. The games can be heard on 93.5 WAIN-FM and seen locally on Duo County Channel 2 and across the World Wide Web at http://www.ihigh.com/lindseywilson/index.html beginning at 5:40 p.m. CT with the pregame show.
In the women's game, the Blue Raiders (18-10, 6-8 in the MSC) desperately need a win to keep their national tournament hopes alive. Lindsey Wilson is riding a two-game losing streak, but a pair of wins this week should propel the Blue Raiders back into the national rankings.
No. 21-ranked Campbellsville (18-10, 8-6) won the first meeting this season 77-65 in Campbellsville, despite a season-high 35 points and 18 rebounds from Lindsey Wilson junior Ashley Rainey. Campbellsville junior Mackenzie Lee scored a team-high 17 points to help the Tigers to their sixth straight win over the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson -- who is coming off road losses at Shawnee State (Ohio) University and Georgetown (Ky.) College -- still has a chance to tie for fourth place in the conference standings and earn the No. 4 seed in next week's conference tournament.
Currently, the Blue Raiders are tied for sixth place in the conference, two games behind the Tigers. But two wins this week and two Campbellsville losses would result in each team finishing with 8-8 records. Lindsey Wilson would own the tie-breaker over the Tigers since the Blue Raiders split this season with third-place team Georgetown during the regular season.
Tip-off for the women's game is 6 p.m. CT.
In the men's game, Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville each enter the game ranked in the latest NAIA Top-25.
In addition to the normal pageantry that goes along with the Lindsey Wilson-Campbellsville game, the game has been selected by the NAIA as the NAIA Men's Basketball Division I Game of the Week.
The No. 8-ranked Blue Raiders (18-8, 9-4) lead the MSC over second-place Georgetown by 1/2 game and with a win can secure at least a share of the MSC regular season title and the top-seed in next week's conference tournament.
No. 20-ranked Campbellsville (20-8, 8-6) is in a three-way tie with University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and St. Catharine (Ky.) College for third place in the conference. Cumberlands and St. Catharine meet tonight in Williamsburg, Ky.
Lindsey Wilson shot 48.9 percent from the field, including six for 10 from beyond the three-point arc in the first meeting to beat the Tigers 71-65 on Jan. 19 in Campbellsville. Three Blue Raiders scored in double figures led by junior Kalen Kimberland's 19 points. Campbellsville's Cedric Henderson scored a game-high 25 points in a losing effort.
Both teams enter tonight's game riding modest winning streaks. Lindsey Wilson has won three straight, while Campbellsville has won four in a row.
Tip-off for the men's game is approximately 8 p.m. CT.
