COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College is tied for seventh in the final fall 2011-12 Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings.
Lindsey Wilson earned 195 points by scoring points in three of the six fall sports -- including 100 points for winning the men's soccer national title.
The remaining points for Lindsey Wilson from women's soccer (70 points) for its quarterfinal appearance in the national tournament and volleyball (25) for its appearance in the NAIA Tournament's opening round.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women's and six men's.
Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University leads with 359 points while California State University San Marcos is second with 265 points.
Lindsey Wilson leads four Mid-South Conference institutions who earned points in the fall.
Shawnee State (Ohio) University is second in the MSC and 31st overall with 95 points. Georgetown (Ky.) College is 37th overall with 83 points and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) is 45th overall with 70 points.
The first winter NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings will be released March 8, 2012.
