MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams open the NAIA National Championships on Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The No. 11-seeded Blue Raider women (15-3) open the 24-team tournament at 9 a.m. CT against No. 22-seed Spring Hill (Ala.) College. The Lindsey Wilson and Spring Hill winner advances to Wednesday's second round against sixth-seeded Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University.
Lindsey Wilson is making its eighth appearance in the NAIAs. The Blue Raiders are 11-7 all-time in the tournament. Spring Hill is making its second appearance all-time at nationals. The Badgers (9-4) own a 0-1 all-time record in the tournament. Spring Hill's only appearance was an opening round loss in 2004.
Eight opening round matches are on tap for Tuesday with another eight matches scheduled for Wednesday's second round. The tournament concludes at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, May 19.
In the men's tournament, Lindsey Wilson is the No. 11 seed and faces No. 22-seed Hastings (Neb.) College at 1 p.m. CT. The Lindsey Wilson (18-5) and Hastings (12-8) winner advances to Wednesday's second round against sixth-seeded Vanguard (Calif.) University.
Lindsey Wilson -- 7-9 all-time at the national tournament -- is making its ninth national championship appearance while Hastings is playing in its third all-time national tournament. The Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament champion is 0-2 all-time in the tournament.
Like the women's tournament, eight opening round matches are scheduled for Tuesday with another eight matches in Wednesday's second round. The tournament concludes at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday.
